Yalding Post Office is housed in The Old Bakery. This image is from 1927, but the building is grade II listed and dates from 1560ish! Yalding Post Office has been at its current location on the corner of Lees Road and Yalding High Street since 1900. We believe the George V wall mounted post box was fitted in 1915. We found a 1915 penny built into the wooden surround recently that supports this theory. The Post Office was also the sorting office and up to 6 people could be working behind the fortress counter at any one time. The current sorting office was Yalding Bakery. The bakery closed in the 1980s and Royal Mail took it over and it is still a sorting office today. Three postal delivery men operate from this office.
